Spring Break

For spring break we went up to Sequoia national park where James sister works. We met his parents there and had a great time. There was a ton of snow and so the first day the kids sledded and played. The next we went on a trail to look at Grants tree and the the huge sequoia trees, it was very cool and the kids loved it. After that we decided to take a road and go down the mountain to look at the scenery and eat lunch. Well the road was very narrow and was cutting back and forth. Within 10 minutes I was pretty sick. So for the next 30 minutes I laid down and just breathed. Needless to say James stopped his parents and told them there was no way I was going to make it through a lovely mountain tour and so we went on to Bakersfield and met them there later that night. WE then stayed in Bakersfield for a few days and Maile showed me how to use a pressure cooker and some ideas for food storage. It was a fun trip.

Elders Quorum Pinewood Derby

Ok so I'm behind on my posts. This is from the Elders Quorum pinewood derby, where there are no rules. James had alot of fun doing his and spent alot of time thinking and analyzing it with his brothers, (it was pretty funny) Anyways here is a video of his car. He built one using compressed air with a valve, springs and other stuff.

Voodoo Needle!!!

Ok so there is this old wives tale that if you thread a needle and then let if hang over your wrist it will tell you all the kids you will or have already had. So when we've tried this on alot of people it actually works and have put the kids in order. If it swings up and down (writst to elbow) it means boy. If it swings left to right (across the wrist) it means girl. The needle will stop in between each one and then when it just stops you apparently are done.
So I did this a few weeks ago for kicks. The key is making sure your elbow of the hand that is holding the needle is resting on something so you have a steady hand. So it worked saying boy, girl, girl, girl, and then. . . . . it went in a circle. CIRCLE what does that mean, well it means twins. Then it tells you what the twins will be which then said both girls.
So it is just a fun thing and I shouldn't be freaking out but it is totally in the back of my mind now. The last few times I've watched TLC Baby Story it is ladies having twins!!! James just cracks up when I turn to him and say, "Holy crap what if there are twins?" So I had my first dr. appt the other day and needless to say I was very anxious to rule out that possibility. I was so dissapointed because this first appointment was just paperwork and bloodwork and that was it. UUGGHHHH!!! My next appt. is on the 31st where they do an ultrasound and the whole shebang so we'll see what happens.

Pinewood derby

Derick's pinewood derby was a few weeks ago. He didn't do too bad. I realize the most important part was the actual time him and James worked on the car together. He did his car mostly by himself. I love the Lego guy glued into the driver's seat. We all had a fun time and he got his bear and golden arrow that night as well.

Waiting at the end

Deric's is the blue and white one with the guy driving.
