Gardening

So today was a beautiful day. Not scorching hot like the last 2 but warm with a cool breeze, and perfect weather for working outside. Today we built a little fence around our garden to keep "fluffy" the pet bunny, and Olivia and Taylor out. Last year Olivia and Taylor loved to pick all of the green tomatoes off the plant and come show me. Needless to say we didn't have many tomatoes to eat last year. This year we planted 2 tomato plants, strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, squash, zucchini, and 2 different kinds of lettuce. The lettuce is ready to pick anytime and is so good. I love eating fresh fruits and veggies from our garden.

A few weeks a go we planted some trees. The little one is a peach tree that won't start growing fruit for 2 years. I think we are going to plant an orange tree and an avacado one as well. With such a big yard we have to do a little at a time.

So today it was 93!!! Wow it was just a little too hot for me today and I wasn't prepared (little swimmers and sunscreen). We set up the little pools for the girls and they had a ball all day long playing and sipping icees. James and the girls attacked Kaitlyn when she came home from school. It is suppose to be 65 degrees on Friday with rain. WHAT THE???? crazy

New recipes = Yummy!!!

I've been in one of those moods where I want to try different recipes. I've had a barefoot contessa recipe book for about 5 years and have made maybe 3 of the recipes. Well I just made 2 of them and our family loved them.
The first one is a mac n cheese that is super yummy. You use guyere and extra sharp cheddar cheese gives it a good taste. Then you have sliced tomatoes on top and bread crumbs so it has a crunch to it. It was so good and the tomato was extra delightful.

Next was a parmesan chicken that was very easy and excellent. what makes this is the salad on top with a lemon vinaigerette. anyways I'm to lazy right now to post the whole recipes so if you are interested let me know.

sick, sick sick

Taylor went to the Dr. on Monday and she has strep. The next day Olivia is burning up and totally out of it and then Derick comes home from school with a fever of 103 and eventually starts throwing up. Lovely!!!! The next morning Kaitlyn wakes up hot and not feeling good. Poor kids I feel so bad for them when they are feeling so icky. Thank goodness for 7 up and Disney movies.

Easter Time!!!

I realized that I didn't take any pictures of the kids before church on Sunday. Maybe it was because James had early morning meetings and I had to be at the church at 8:00 a.m. for practice rehearsal with all the kids ready. I think I was lucky that we got there at all. WE had a great Easter with a yummy Easter dinner and a warm sunny day. WE spent all day outside just hanging out and playing.

Olivia has figured out how to get our pet bunny out of her cage and is obsessed with holding her. If we can't find Olivia we know she is outside with the bunny. Poor little bunny gets "roughed" up a little with her, it is fun to see her carry it around though.

Kaitlyn's softball

Kaitlyn just started playing fast pitch softball this year and she is so stinkin' cute out there. The coaches pitch as this level and they don't keep score which is good. Kaitlyn is hitting the ball really well and is enjoying being on a team and cheering and singing songs. Yeah that's right singing songs! The first game we went too the sang little diddies the whole game. Me and Derick looked at eachother and he said, "Why don't they just be quiet, this is sure different from baseball." I have to agree it is different but with 3 girls I better get use to it.
Kaitlyn's main focus right now is on the "snacks". Here is our dialogue on the way to her game yesterday:

Kaitlyn: Mom do you have snacks today?

Mom: No I don't have them for another 2 weeks.

Kaitlyn: Well I wonder who does. . . I hope they don't forget. . . . . that would be bad. . . . What would we eat after the game?. . . What do you think they'll bring?

Mom: I don't know Kailtyn.

Kaitlyn: Hey mom I was thinking. You know how sometimes I set out an inning in the dugout.

Mom: yeah

Kaitlyn: Well maybe you could put some strawberries and grapes in a bowl so I can have a snack while I'm in there.

Mom: Well you can't just eat the whole time and you need to cheering on your team.

Kaitlyn: I can cheer and eat my strawberries.

Mom: ok Kaitlyn, let's just look out the window and try to find a cow.

Conference weekend

I love Conference. I love staying in my jammies all day. No meetings or other commitments. I feel bad because we missed the Saturday sessions due to a baseball and softball game but we taped them and hopefully will watch them soon. I love the printouts for the kids. They are quiet the whole time and actually pick up on some of the stories and stuff. I prepared alot of food like a chocolate pie, veggie platter, cinnamon rolls, for us so we could have a day of relaxing and eating. I want to do that every conference and so that it will also be something my kids look forward too as well. It was a warm day so during the sessions we were outside together soaking up the sun. What a great day!!!

Voodo needle was it wrong or right????

Well I had my appointment the other day and they did an ultrasound. I met my doctor for the first time and he was super nice. I'm sure he did not think the same of me after I told him I thought I might be having twins because of the needle. He thought it was actually funny and said,"well we'll soon find out."
Now right after I did that needle thing I was sort of excited about the possibilities of twins. HOw fun is that and different and so I was pumping up for it. Then the last few weeks before my appointments I started freaking out. Actually thinking about double the diapers, double the feedings, a new car, etc. So when I went in to my appointment I was very much wanting to see only one little baby.
So he did the ultrasound and there is one baby. Yippeee!!!! I've never had an ultrasound at 12 weeks before, usually they just listen for the heartbeat. It was crazy the baby on the monitor looked like a normal size baby and you could see the little arms moving around and stuff. Anyways I feel relieved to have heard the heartbeat and seen this little baby. Now I'm just waiting for the sickness to leave.
Kailtyn has been into reading and looking at my week by week pregnancy book and the other day I was having a rough day and she said,"Well mom you are almost done with your first trimester so you'll probablly be feeling better soon." HOw cute is she!!!! Anyways that's our news for now. Natalie now you can have dreams of me and just one baby.
